How DocMate handles your documents, the services you choose to use, and the information you share with us.
DocMate helps you scan, organise, search, sign, redact and compare documents on your device. iCloud sync is optional and off by default.
The current app stores PDFs, document metadata, OCR results and Document Intelligence results locally. It has no DocMate-hosted document storage service. Selected metadata can also be used by Apple system features such as Spotlight and reminders.
When enabled, sync transfers selected documents, folders, signatures and related metadata through Apple’s iCloud Drive. Separate OCR indexes and Intelligence results stay local; text already inside a synced PDF travels with that PDF. Turning sync off does not delete existing copies.
Deletion removes the record and attempts file cleanup; iCloud deletion can wait for sync and retains deletion markers. Removing an item from iCloud sync preserves local copies and can leave cloud files.
OCR uses Apple Vision on your device for the app’s supported languages. Scanner and image enhancement processing also run locally. Document Intelligence uses local rules and Apple’s on-device models when available. These processing paths do not upload document content to an external processing service.
The app includes no advertising or third-party analytics/tracking SDKs. It does produce local diagnostics and library summaries. The website stores your theme preference locally and has no source-integrated marketing cookies or analytics. Website requests reach Cloudflare, the hosting provider.
Sharing or exporting can send files, recognised text and metadata to the app, file provider or recipient you choose. Those destinations handle the copies they receive. If you choose Translate in Review, selected text is passed to Apple’s system translation service and may be sent to Apple for processing.
DocMate uses Apple services for optional iCloud sync, system translation, purchases and system features. Cloudflare hosts this website and routes incoming support and privacy emails. Email providers process messages and attachments you choose to send us.
We require these services to provide the same or greater protection for your information as set out in this Privacy Policy and applicable Apple privacy requirements, and to meet applicable privacy and security requirements. DocMate does not authorize them to use document content or personal information for their own independent advertising or unrelated purposes.
Apps, file providers and recipients you choose for sharing or exporting are separate destinations you select. They handle the copies you send under their own privacy practices.
DocMate does not operate a server for storing your documents. Documents stored locally remain on your device until you delete them. If you choose to use iCloud, storage and deletion are also subject to your iCloud settings and Apple’s services.
Support correspondence and limited operational records are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your request, operate and protect the service, comply with applicable legal obligations, or resolve disputes. When they are no longer needed for those purposes, they are deleted or anonymized where appropriate.
